In 2003, the rapidly modernizing Druskininkai resort began to host plein airs for artists. This initiative belonged to Rimvydas Aniulis, the owner of the newly opened cozy hotel "Regina". in 2003 The "Regina" plein airs, which started in autumn, continued until 2009... The unique wooden architecture of Druskininkai, the wonderful nature of the resort inspired the participants of the plein airs as well.
The seven autumns of Druskininkai and their impressions lay down in paintings.
This collection of paintings was started together with the start of Regina's plein air painting...
Close to 30 well-known artists took part in the plein air. Only artists from Lithuania were exclusively invited to the plein air,
because a collection of Lithuanian paintings was being accumulated.
Later, Rimvydas Aniulis, the sponsor of plein airs in Druskininkai, had the idea to publish an art album of the plein airs in Druskininkai, which would reflect the collection of works painted by the most famous Lithuanian painters in Druskininkai, and to exhibit it in the exhibition spaces of Druskininkai.
In 2020–2022 the first three parts of the collection of plein-air paintings in Druskininkai, which took place in 2003-2009, have been presented in the Druskininkai craft center "Menų kalvė", whose authors are: Bronius Gražys, Danutė Gražienė, Svajūnas Armonas, Gražina Janina Vitartaitė, Arvydas Pakalka, Vilmantas Marcinkevičius, Vytautas Tomaševičius, Arvydas Bagdžius, Aleksandras Vozbinas, Andrius Mosiejus, Silvija Drebickaitė, Linas Liandzbergis, Vytautas Poška, Raimondas Savickas, Jolanta Snežko.
