“Ancestral trails. Naujokynė ”- an exhibition of textile works and photographs

It is a joint exhibition of textile works and photographs by three artists, born spontaneously and naturally. In 2014, a six-year-long creative collaboration began in Šakiai district, Valakbūdis (churchyard, just a few kilometers from the Karaliaučius area). Authentic 19th century The homestead of Laima and Irena's ancestors, inherited from their grandparents Petė and Pranas Naujokaičiai (hence the Suvalkian homestead name Naujokynė), fragments that testify to the past, wonderful nature has become a source of inspiration for creativity. The shots captured by Edita became the impetus for Irena and Laima's creative interpretation of the images in textiles. This exhibition was first exhibited at the Zanavykai Museum in 2020.

Sisters Laima Kantakevičienė (1962, Vilnius district) and Irena Seniūnienė (1958, Vilnius district) studied at VVPI, majored in chemistry and applied work and work as teachers. They are interested in various handicraft techniques, artistic searches for their combination. She is improving not only herself, but also conducts seminars, educational events, shares her experience with students, teachers, friends and like-minded people, exhibits author's exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. For many years, the sisters participated in the activities of the quilt club "Urtė", the wool felting clubs "Vilniaus vilnelė" and in joint exhibitions. Their works can be seen in exhibitions of folk artists (member of Laima LTS since 1991).

Edita Meškonienė (1964, Trakai). He studied economics and later international business. He worked in economics and finance until 2017. After that he studied photography. She currently works as a freelance photographer and guide and travel guide. LTS member. Since adolescence, he has been interested in art, history, handicrafts, constantly photographing and participating in exhibitions.
